Wildlife artist Richard Macwee

Trying to capture the rugged features of a tiger or a detailed portrait of a family tabby cat in pencil has been my ambition and, fortunately, my profession for the past few years.

Although I have received no formal training as an artist, I decided, several years ago to take up the business professionally and start a pencil portrait business, working mostly from photographs sent in to me. Although commissions ranged from new born babies, to wedding days, to landscapes, it was the commissions involving animals that gave me the greatest sense of both achievement and satisfaction.

The result of all this is the website you are now looking at. You will find here my galleries of wildlife portraits and pet portraits.  You can also find details of how to commission a portrait in pencil. Please also have a look at the links page where you will find a list of various animal welfare charities.

I hope you enjoy looking around.
