WSPA's vision is of a world where animal welfare matters, and animal cruelty ends.

WSPA has been promoting animal welfare for more than 25 years. Our work is concentrated in regions of the world where few, if any, measures exist to protect animals.

WSPA's work is focused on four priority animal welfare areas:

·        Companion animals - responsible pet ownership, humane stray management and cruelty prevention.

·        Commercial exploitation of wildlife - intensive farming and the cruel management and killing of wild animals for food or by-products.

·        Farm animals - intensive farming, long distance transport and slaughter of animals for food.

·        Disaster management - providing care to animals suffering as a result of man-made or natural disasters, and thereby protecting people's livelihoods

 International Animal Rescue

The aim of International Animal Rescue (IAR) is to come to the aid of suffering animals with hands-on rescue and the provision of short or long term rehabilitation. Wherever possible we return rescued animals to their natural habitat, but we also provide sanctuary for animals that can no longer survive in the wild. We work with other likeminded organisations and government departments to develop sound legislation to protect animals from cruelty and neglect. IAR specialises in providing comprehensive sterilisation and vaccination programmes for stray dogs and cats to control populations and prevent the spread of disease. In all that we do, we aim to produce practical solutions that benefit both animals and people.

Our efforts are concentrated on those areas where the need is greatest: wherever animals are mistreated, neglected or struggling to survive without proper care. Many of the animals we treat spend long, tiring days ploughing fields. Others are used to carry heavy loads such as building materials or containers of water.

WWF uses its practical experience, knowledge and credibility to create long-term solutions for the planet's environment.

The RSPCA intends to achieve its mission by:
Effecting strong branch, regional, national and international organisations dedicated to providing a public service, delivering effective relief of animal suffering and enforcing the law

Working tirelessly to reduce the harmful impact of human activities on animals through education, campaigning and the application of ethics, science and law

Striving for the highest levels of efficiency, effectiveness and integrity

Urging that, save where the public benefit requires, humankind should not intentionally cause suffering to any animal when it is not for its own benefit, or cause suffering by neglect. This applies whatever the animal, or the situation in which it finds itself.

Animal Care in Egypt

ACE was opened in July 2000 by two animal lovers (Kim and Julie) who had initially come to Egypt on holiday. They were so distressed by the condition of the horses and donkeys they saw around Luxor, they decided to do something to help.

ACE has now evolved into a fully functioning veterinary hospital with up to 200 animals visiting a day (most requiring some sort of medical attention), ranging from water buffalo, camels, horses and donkeys to cats, dogs and even tortoises.

ACE is trying to improve the lives of these animals not only by treatment but also by education and prevention. The service we provide is free to the poor owners who rely so heavily on their animals to feed, clothe and house their families.

CAPS seeks to prevent the use and exploitation of captive and performing animals, and investigates cases of alleged cruelty against captive and performing animals.
